YANG Man, YIN Man
From the perspective of relationships and love, men can express more YANG (solar) or YIN (lunar) aspects. In other words, some men are more expansive and radiant, while others are more receptive and introspective. The contrast between the Yang Man and the Yin Man allows for a deeper understanding of individual development.
This distinction should not be seen as a label to place on someone (as this polarity can evolve over time), but rather as a starting point that helps us better understand the personal journey each person must undertake. Yang and Yin should not be viewed as simple values on a linear scale — less Yang doesn’t necessarily mean more Yin. Instead, they should be seen as two complementary dimensions.
In this article, we’ll explore the portrait of the Yang Man. In future articles, we’ll also look at Yin and other important aspects of self-discovery, according to the development of these two complementary energies — solar and lunar — within the masculine being.
► He is strong.
► He has no issues with erection or premature ejaculation.
► He feels comfortable in his masculine polarity — happy and confident as a man.
► He loves women, and they feel the virile energy in him that draws them in.
► He is determined and courageous.
► He knows how to make decisions and acts with conviction.
► His life revolves around a project or a passion.
► If he’s young, he lives life to the fullest.
► If he’s older, he enjoys guiding others.
► He often enjoys being with other men, playing team sports, and competing in a masculine way.
► If he’s more adventurous, he is drawn to exploring and venturing alone into deserts, mountains, or oceans.
► If he’s more calm, he spends his time gardening or doing DIY projects, loving to create things with his own hands.
► He is highly creative when it comes to physical tasks or actions in the material world.
► He is more of an active person than a contemplative one, more of an organiser than an artist.
► He loves martial arts for the strength, the pleasure of fighting, and the energy coursing through his veins.
► In love, he is passionate and strong — but because he is so focused on his own pleasure, he tends to see women as objects, often without even realising it. This, of course, does not please women, even though they may be attracted to his strength.
► Sometimes, he sees women merely as “prey,” as instruments of satisfaction and proof of his masculinity, which makes it difficult to form a genuine relationship.
In truth, every man also carries a latent yin aspect. The receptive part tends to remain in a repetitive and instinctive mode, without awakening the awareness needed to reach a state of unity. A tantric approach can be incredibly beneficial for the Yang Man — if he can open himself to authentic love.
The Yang Man is usually content with his current state. He desires women, makes it clear, and if she consents, he is satisfied. If he knows how to seduce through confidence and strength, why should he bother to change?
Usually, we only embark on the path of transformation when we suffer. But what if there’s no suffering?
Often, these men display a slightly crude side. They might say, “I really love women because I love making love.” The idea of making love sounds harmless, even noble, as a way to reach orgasm — but there’s a risk of losing the connection, the openness, the ecstasy, the unity.
Fortunately, it’s often the Yang Man’s partner who tries to spark transformation. Sometimes, in her own subtle way, she wishes he would open up to the relationship, let go — just a little — of football, cars, or his mates, and invest more in the bond between them, so they can build that essential space where true meeting becomes possible.
But it’s not easy, because nothing scares this man more than the feminine aspect of life. He grew through strength, stepping out of the maternal environment to face the world and commit himself to external action.
So why would he step into this strange, somewhat unsettling space?
There is something deep within that holds him back — a fear that, in opening up to the feminine, he might lose his masculinity and stop being a “man.”
But life has a way of offering unexpected paths, and a miracle can happen — through a meeting, a sense of longing, a vague feeling that something is missing — and we see this man begin to open, to slowly free himself from the shell that limits him.
It feels like witnessing a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, like a dried-up spring flowing once again. Suddenly, the fertile power of Yang begins to make sense.
As he unites with his inner Yin, his unconscious feminine, and opens himself to woman and sensuality, it’s as if life awakens within him and gives him a new glow.
Power meets love. Strength discovers compassion. A new being is born.
In this process of embodiment and development of the tantric lover, the authentic initiatory massage offered by Lila Massage in Porto greatly helps the man to become aware of this inner soul nature, while simultaneously discovering a higher, more conscious masculinity.
We will continue the portrait of the Yin (and the Yang) Man in the next article — stay tuned!
